What Does a Bondsman Charge?

Most bondsman charge a 10% premium to “write” bond.

You have to sign over to the bondsman collateral equal to the bond amount AND pay the bondsman a fee of 10% of the bond amount.

They accept: houses, land, bank accounts. Most do not accept cars, motorcycles, jewelry.

Even if you can raise the cash I suggest you use a bondsman for this reason: Florida (and other states) will not return the money to you in full. The Clerk will take the court fines and other costs from your bond amount and then return the balance. No such risk for bondsmen.

If the Clerk doesn’t take court costs and fines from the bond then it is cheaper for you to post the cash bond with the Sheriff. You get it all back at the end of the case (trial verdict or final disposition).
